COVID-19 Update 9/23/2020
September 23, 2020
LISD Parents & Guardians,
This message is to inform you that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 of a student enrolled at Lovelady High School. We have completed the contact tracing protocol and reporting requirements.
The individual, who began to show symptoms over the weekend, DID NOT return to campus this week and did not meet the close contact guidelines outlined by the CDC and Texas Education Agency with any LHS students or staff members.
“Close contact” is defined by TEA as:
a. being directly exposed to infectious secretions (e.g., being coughed on); or
b. being within 6 feet for a largely uninterrupted or sustained extended contact period throughout the course of a day of approximately 15 minutes; however, additional factors like case/contact masking (i.e., both the infectious individual and the potential close contact have been consistently and properly masked), ventilation, presence of dividers, and case symptomatology may affect this determination.
The individual will not be permitted to return to campus until CDC guidelines have been met, as well as being cleared to return by a physician.
Following our planned COVID-19 response, local health authorities will be notified and the LHS campus has been thoroughly sanitized and disinfected.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during these constantly changing times. We want to remind parents of the importance of completing the COVID-19 screenings prior to sending your children to school. This is critical in our efforts to mitigate the spread.
